The Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ as Described by a Surgeon

Dr. Pierre Barbet’s A Doctor at Calvary is essential reading for anyone looking to gain an in-depth understanding of the devastating physical and psychological trauma that Jesus endured during his Crucifixion. With precise detail, Barbet’s book provides a unique exploration of the medical science behind Christ’s Passion, thereby allowing readers to enter into a complex realm of theological inquiry in a captivating and accessible way.

Dr. Barbet begins by addressing the many questions that theologians have asked about Jesus’ physical suffering, from what degree and kind of torture he endured to what was the medical cause of His death. Based on evidence gleaned from biblical scripture, archaeological research, chemistry studies, forensic analysis, and more – Dr. Barbet paints an exhaustive portrait of Jesus’ physical suffering with tangible proof. This thoroughly researched documentation is bolstered further by testimonies from religious leaders like Pope Pius XII and supportive data from modern thought leaders across various other fields.

A Doctor at Calvary is an authoritative account rooted firmly in faith yet enhanced by expert clinical knowledge that helps readers get closer to one of history’s greatest mysteries – the true extent of Jesus's suffering when He sacrificed Himself for humanity. Through its persuasive scientific argumentation coming alongside timeless religious understanding, this book serves as a must-have reference point for students and scholars alike who seek a fuller understanding of their Savior’s Passion!

A Visit to the Past

I read this book in 1958 when I was a junior in high school! I loved it then, and I was thrilled to be able to read now. It is a true meditation on Jesus' sufferings, wounds and death on the cross.
