A philosophical approach to debunking evolution.

Fr. Ripperger uses simple principles of logic and reason to show how the concept of macroevolution is inherently irrational and illogical. Some of the logical principles that you will learn about include the "principle of hierarchy of being", “excluded middle”, “non-contradiction”, “sufficient reason”, “cause is greater than the effect”, “proportionate causality,” “resemblance”, and “operation”.

In addition to that, there is some discussion on the many problems of theistic evolution.

Drawing from Thomistic principles, Fr. Ripperger effectively demonstrates that the theory of evolution is totally incompatible with the metaphysics of Catholic tradition. This book will remedy any insecurities you might have on the topic of evolution and it will strengthen your ability to provide a worthy defense on a philosophical basis.

Fr. Chad Ripperger:

Fr. Chad Ripperger, Ph.D. is a theologian, Thomistic psychologist, philosopher, author, and exorcist. Father Ripperger was originally ordained in 1997, as a member of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP). He now has his own society, the Doloran Fathers, also known as the Society of the Most Sorrowful Mother, which is located in the archdiocese of Denver. He has a Ph.D. in philosophy and a master's degree in theology from Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut. Ripperger has developed a stellar reputation as a stalwart defender of Catholic tradition. He has an outspoken, no-nonsense approach to the Faith, which many of the faithful see as a breath of fresh air.

A Metaphysical Smackdown on Evolution

Once again Fr. Ripperger delivers a clear, concise, and understandable explanation of how macro evolution is not so much a conclusion drawn from empirical science, but a conclusion drawn from philosophical presuppositions. Macro evolution's philosophical presuppositions contradict scholastic principles (the metaphysical principles of St. Thomas Aquinas) and simple logical principles. This book debunks evolution on purely metaphysical and logical grounds. I highly recommend you understand the metaphysical terms used by studying the glossary in the back of the book, otherwise you will not understand what is being said.

Excellent work

This book is clear and concise as it tears through the myth of evolution with logic and first principles. The average man on the street as well as scientists of all types and at all levels would do well to read this book!

Was sorely needed!

Usually, arguments on this subject focus on either the theological or the scientific. We sorely needed a book that looked that philosophical angle. For some, this is actually the easiest angle to comprehend and defend. The approach is also fitting for a wide variety of audiences.

Nice Treatise on Evolution!

I was grateful for a direct and solid summary of this topic in only 60 pages. It is a relief to find a book that is well written and by an author that is excellent and who does not feel the need to add volume to the work. I have read too many books that were more than 300 pages and should have been less. This was a gift! Further, the topic of Evolution is present in many catholic schools and in curriculums that venture too far away from the Faith and objective Truth. I have seen this first hand as a HS science teacher. What is being taught is well ... shocking. The creation story aligns perfectly with real science and objective Truth. I highly recommend the book. It differentiates between macro-evolution (bad) and micro-evolution (adaptation). The writing has an advanced philosophy style, which is great.

Excellent!!

Fr. Ripperger does an incredible job in absolutely destroying microb-to-man evolution, not using natural science, but by hacking at the very roots of the evolutionaty worldview, its metaphysical and philosophical principles. Fr. Ripperger shows that if evolution is accepted, it denies the traditional foundations of Catholic metaphysics perfected by St. Thomas Aquinas. The most important aspect of this important work is that anyone will be able to read AND UNDERSTAND IT!!! I highly recommend this book.

A Crisp, Clear Defense for All People

I love how Fr. Ripperger used principles of logic to show so many glaring problems with atheistic arguments. So his arguments are universally accessible and not just applicable for Catholics. For example, the concept of a self-perpetuating world actually violates the principle of non-contradiction. In order to perpetuate itself, a universe would inherently have to exist in order to perform the act. Otherwise, if nothing exists, what is performing the act?
The abstract logical principles that he explains are things that do require some slow reading and contemplation, but Fr. Ripperger always provides concrete examples, which helped me out tremendously. Evolution was an area that I always felt insecure on because I was not well-read or well-versed in it. However, after reading this, I feel really solid and I feel like I can adequately defend the Catholic position now.

Pleasantly surprised

Fr. Riperger is a real scholastic. The book is a well-structured lesson on the subject. It does require a bit of patience and intellectual effort and to some it might seem a difficult read. Do not let the first paragraphs discourage you, keep reading and trust Fr. Riperger’s pedagogy, you will understand the beauty of the logic behind his explanations.
