What do we mean by Tradition? What are its origins and its relation to the Magisterium, past and present? How have Modernist philosophies played off against it? In the light of Tradition, how can the Latin Mass and the Novus Ordo be evaluated? This book is full of substantive history and analysis and is deeply imprinted with the scholastic mind of its author. It has hundreds of footnotes and a substantive bibliography. It is clearly expressed for the most part, though it is much in need of a good copy editor. This is not an emotional comfort book. If you consider yourself a JPII Catholic, as I do/did, you may be challenged to “open wide the doors to Christ” in a new way. He may, in fact, be standing in the vestibule of the Latin Mass, much to your surprise.
