With his cherubic face and unworldly simplicity, his glasses and huge umbrella, Father Brown is one of the most unforgettable characters in literature. The Complete Father Brown Stories brings together all the stories featuring G. K. Chesterton's amateur sleuth--plus two additional cases, "The Donnington Affair" and "The Mask of Midas," that were discovered in Chesterton's papers after his death. An introduction by Chesterton scholar Michael D. Hurley sheds new light on the beloved detective series.

For more than sixty-five years, Penguin has been the leading publisher of classic literature in the English-speaking world. With more than 1,500 titles, Penguin Classics represents a global bookshelf of the best works throughout history and across genres and disciplines. Readers trust the series to provide authoritative texts enhanced by introductions and notes by distinguished scholars and contemporary authors, as well as up-to-date translations by award-winning translators.

G. K. Chesterton:

G.K. Chesterton (1874-1936) was a prolific English journalist and author best known for his mystery series featuring the priest-detective Father Brown and for the metaphysical thriller The Man Who Was Thursday. Baptized into the Church of England, Chesterton underwent a crisis of faith as a young man and became fascinated with the occult. He eventually converted to Roman Catholicism and published some of Christianity's most influential apologetics, including Heretics and Orthodoxy.

Great bed side reading!

Father Brown's stories are riddle-like short mysteries that incite your curiosity and leave you satisfied by their conclusion. Light hearted, though deep in meaning.

Nice cozy tales with a hint of philosophical depth

Put briefly, the Father Brown mysteries are a set of stories perfect for a brief moment of comfort in the midst of the madness of modern life. Each mystery has a brilliant resolution which is simple yet unexpected. There are sparse moments of philosophical depth in them, but mostly they are easy to digest and just great bedtime reading or light reading for any occasion. An absolute must-have for any fan of either Chesterton or mystery novels.
