Consoling Thoughts from a Loving God

The power and uniqueness of Julian of Norwich's writings focuses on God's love in a special way. This book is especially beneficial for people who are struggling with scrupulosity and find themselves thinking of where they're coming up short all the time. God is very loving and merciful, but this challenges us if you think about it, because how can we be united to God in heaven if we are also not perfectly loving? So this challenged me by helping me realize that that is the gap that has to be closed, in either this life or purgatory in order to fully be with God.

One of the other discussions that was fascinating was how God reacts to our sin. She mentions that God doesn't have anger or show wrath, because those things indicate a deficiency, a lack of love.

Well worth a read. If you're really into reading the mystics, this is a must-read because it is such a different style and focus, and a very consoling one at that.
